“Caught with my pants down:

Ok mind out of the gutter, I didn’t ‘literally’ get caught with my pants down.

But I did find myself getting caught eating crap food on the run by a client.

For me this is equally as embarrassing!

See the problem was, I wasn’t prepared!

The no.1 rule when trying to lose weight…Prepare!

You know like the old saying goes “Fail to prepare, prepare to fail”

So true!

Especially when it comes to weight loss.

If you do not prepare your meals and schedule for the next day you will inevitably come unstuck.

So what can you do to ensure this doesn’t happen to you?

Here are my Top 5 meal prep tips to help make sure you never get caught with your pants down.

(1) Choose A Go - To Day.

Set aside 60 to 90 mins 1 or 2 days per week for meal preparation.

For example on Sundays I usually prep Monday through Wednesday then on Wednesday night Thursday through to Saturday.

Write out the days of the week, divided by the specific meals, then fill in the main dishes while keeping in mind how ingredients might work together.

(2) Prepare multiple meals at once.

Making multiples meals at once is essential if you have a busy schedule.

Preparing double portions is key. Make an extra serving of dinner and you have yourself a lunch for the next day too!

(3) Forget ‘easy’ recipes.

Find meals which you know and like to save on prep time.

Use clean food cook books to help you with your meal selections.

Once you have perfected a recipe or two then think about adding a new one. Trying to many different meals at one time makes life very hard!

(4) Invest in glass storage containers.

Glass is always better than plastic for health reasons, but if you don’t have them then microwave safe, BPA free plastic ones will do.

These will become your best friend allowing your prepared meals to be frozen and mobile. Kind of like having your own store of deliciously fresh and health ready meals!

(5) Emergency supplies!

Always keep a small tub of nuts and seeds in the car or in your bag.

If you really do come unstuck or can’t get to a good meal for a few hours then a couple of handfuls of mixed nuts and seeds with a bottle of water and a sprinkle of willpower will tide you over!
