My St Margarets Magazine - Christmas 2011 Edition

my stmar mag xmas 2011 cover

Welcome to the Christmas 2011 edition of the St Margarets Magazine, our seventh edition so far! As our circulation has increased this year may I extend a warm welcome to new readers from Richmond, Twickenham and Isleworth. Please join with us in supporting our St Margarets community in all of its ventures, such as the summer and Christmas Fairs, and please enjoy taking advantage of the wide and varied shops and services we have to offer. Whenever possible please shop with the heart - the St Margarets Heart logo because where you see the heart you’ll find a trader who in turn does their bit for the community.

This edition highlights the very best of St Margarets and all you need for a perfect Christmas. You’ll find lots of tips for the perfect Christmas or New Year gathering including some delicious recipes for canapés in the Food Phile feature on page five, I was lucky enough to get to try some of Philip’s recipes recently and can truly recommend the crispy duck & cucumber cups - simply delicious. Katy our wine and drinks writer recommends some perfect wines for your Christmas table and also tries out some beers and ales.

I’ve put together a gift guide to help make shopping a little easier for you this year and I must say how impressed I am of the gifts available in St Margarets this year. I love the jewellery from Denham and Finney and the more unusual gifts available in St Margarets from shops such as Botanica Medica and Pilates Plus. Also check out the range of retro toys that will take you back to your childhood available from Gift in Crown Road, and no batteries or computer leads needed!

I was delighted when I heard that Samantha Bond had accepted Mr Brocklehurst’s request for an interview. Mr B interviewed Sam at her favourite local restaurant, Brocca. Local writer Martyn Day also tells us why technically Christmas is illegal thanks to Oliver Cromwell. Local residents share what makes their perfect Christmas in a feature and Nicky Adams tells us about her night on the streets with the Street Pastors. I’m amazed that we managed to pack so much into this edition!

Finally I would like to wish all of our readers a most wonderful and happy Christmas and to thank you for your tremendous support over the past year.
